After a promising fortnight against two top eight contenders, the young Hawks team took flight to the Gold Coast where unfortunately they were outworked and significantly outplayed to the tune of 53 points on a humid Saturday evening at People First Stadium.

3. Finn Maginness
Finn showed that he had more strings to his bow, playing as a defensive forward and finishing the evening with 16 disposals and a total of three goals in a night where our forwards couldn’t get into the game.
2. Lloyd Meek
Meeky battled hard against Jarrod Witts, ending the battle with 11 disposals, seven clearances and 23 hitouts, all while continuously throwing his body into contests in a dark evening for the midfield brigade.
1. Jack Scrimshaw
Scrimma played as an undersized key defender and tried his heart out all night, with a smother in the fourth quarter showing his whole hearted effort on a gloomy Saturday evening.

3. Karl Amon
The best game Amon has played in his new half back role. He was one of the only players that was able to get our transition game going.
2. Finn Maginness
Have to reward Finn for being our highest goal scorer on the ground. Was a presence in the forward line, being able to take a few strong marks.
1. Josh Weddle
I thought this was the best game Weddle has played this year. He was strong offensively and defensively, and we got to see a few of those trademark Weddle sprints from defence.

3. Finn Maginness
Played forward and kicked nearly 40% of our goals and took an equal team high seven marks (including two contested). Covered the most ground of any Hawk and can’t be blamed for the rest of the team’s performance.
2. Karl Amon
26 disposals and 636 metres gained with an equal team high seven marks and six rebounds as well. Composed and steady but prepared to actually try and get the Hawks moving forward.
1. Lloyd Meek
Was solid against one of the competition’s finest rucks, whilst actually being prepared to throw his enormous frame around, finishing with a game high seven clearances, a team high five inside 50s, and competing well with a top five ruck in the competition. Was the only midfielder who can consider his game passable.

3. Karl Amon
One of very few highlights this week. If I am honest, I don’t want to give three votes to anyone, but Karl tried his heart out all day and was our leading disposal getter, so he gets the nod.
2. Massimo D’Ambrosio
Seems to be a good pickup for the Hawks, was again a highlight in a disappointing night.
1. Finn Maginness
Kicked three of our eight goals and provided an option up forward, deserves a vote on that alone.

3. Karl Amon
Leading possession getter who played his role well across the game to help the Hawks move the ball forward with 661 metres gained to top that statistic for the Hawks in his 150th game.
2. Lloyd Meek
Provided more consistency than most, Meek competed well with 10 contested possessions and lead in centre clearances (four) and clearances (seven). Covered the ground well, and led with five score involvements from his 11 possessions, with his 23 hit outs.
1. Finn Maginness
Lead the team with three goals one behind from his four shots at goal, providing much needed scoring in a surprise avenue to goal along with five score involvements.
