It was heart break for the Hawks after leading on the scoreboard all day. Hawthorn had Port Adelaide stunned for the majority of three quarters with a dominant forward display by Blake Hardwick, supported by Chol and Mackenzie with two goals each, a strong defensive defensive unit and a midfield that was clicking… until that fourth quarter.

The Power’s two quick goals in the final minute, with the last goal being kicked off the ground in the dying seconds, helping the Power sneak home by one point at Adelaide Oval.

A fully fit Will Day is scary good! The kid just knows where to be at the right time. Made some huge tackles and his goal was like watching Dancing on Ice. The midfield dynamic is so much better with him back in the team.

Wowee! Really turned the game on its head with his first quarter four goal master class. Didn’t put a foot wrong when he went back to save the game. A really good problem to have deciding where to play him.

Time and time again denying his opponent the ball! He has been a revelation this year turning into Mr. Reliable. While finishing with only 10 disposals it was his defensive efforts which earned him a vote in my book.

There is nothing I love more than watching Will Day fully fit. His performance individually was outstanding and his presence is an automatic boost for the midfield. The only highlight I’ll be returning to from this game will be that perfect goal.

Ultimate swingman, who was used well for most of the day. Port had no answers for him in that first quarter where he looked unstoppable. One of the highest rated players, not just in this game, but for the entire round 10.

I thought he was dominant in the midfield, played well both offensively and defensively by laying some massive tackles and weaving and winding between opposition players. He looks ready to take his season to the next level.

5 goals as a third tall forward before going back and showing his versatility. Had 23 touches and four marks and has shown his value to the team across the park so far in season 2024.

2 Votes – Sam Frost

Frosty was huge again this weekend, leading a new look backline of inexperienced key defenders. Did a tremendous job on the day to rally the troops and was throwing himself at every contest, ending with a team high five spoils.

27 touches and a tremendous individual goal from Daysy has shown that he is on his way to recapturing his PCM best after an injury plagued start to his season. His versatility across the park and his comeback has coincided with the improvement of our midfield unit.

Dimmer delivers! You couldn’t ask too much more from the versatile 183cm gun.

With his lovely kicking action, grit, crumbing, strong aerial or lead up option, he is the total package and Hardwick caused great celebration as he kicked truly on five occasions to go with 13 contested possessions from his 23 disposals.

Only five players have kicked six goals in a match this year across the AFL.  A remarkable effort.

Inspirational.  Leader.  Day is hitting his straps again and boy does it make a difference.

His inspirational goal and celebration lifted the whole team and you saw the troops stand taller.

Day led from the front with his 27 disposals, 13 contested and six intercept possessions, five clearances and 534 meters gained, to be the top or second highest Hawk in those statistical categories.

1 Vote – Sam Frost

The dour defender was trusted with some big assignments again and was the only Hawk to play 100% game time, such is the faith in Frosty.

His 10 disposals included seven intercept possessions, five one percenters, ten pressure acts and five spoils.  Frost makes our back half so much better.

Five in a half, 23 disposals, six marks and four tackles is just an almighty performance.

Dimma’s kicked nine goals in two games at the Adelaide Oval.

Swingman.

2 Votes – Will Day

WILL IS BACK BABY!

27 disposals, a goal of the year contender, 70% efficiency in the wet and 534 metres gained.

What a man.

What a player.

1 Vote – Lloyd Meek

Make no mistake, Lloyd was tagged.

Port Adelaide moved Charlie Dixon on him at centre bounces because he was destroying Dante Visentini.

45 hitouts, 18 disposals, four tackles and four clearances is a fair day out.
