On a sunny afternoon at the MCG in front of 36,086 people and a vocal Hawthorn supporter base, Hawthorn led from start to finish to end victors over Adelaide by 27 points to celebrate Jack Gunston’s 250th AFL match.

The Hawks kicked away early and scored more than the Crows in every quarter other than the last quarter to bring up their fourth win from the last five matches In a fitting tribute, Gunston kicked his third and the final goal of the match in front of a number of his contemporaries from the 2014 flag, who celebrated the ten year reunion before the match.

Timmy’s Votes

3 – Dylan Moore

27 disposals, five goals, 12 score involvements and two goal assists including the kick to get Gunners the final goal of the game.

Tremendous game from an exceptional leader.

2 – Ned Reeves

Had a huge task this week to half the ruck contest and give the midfielders an opportunity to continue their excellent form.

Had 20 hitouts, ten disposals, three marks and seven score involvements in a welcome return to the Seniors for the big Noodle.

1 – Jack Ginnivan

Guinea Pig had a fantastic game with 22 touches, 21 pressure acts and finishing the day with two goals.

Love his rascal nature and the energy he brings to the team.

Daz’s Votes

3 Votes – Dylan Moore

There’s some Talking Hawks inner turmoil over Liam and I about the CEO of the Dylan Moore Fan Club position.

Daz is pulling TH seniority here great man because the great man is MINE!

Of all current players, who’s had a 25 disposals and five goal game?

Patrick Dangerfield, Jeremy Cameron and Dylan Moore.  End of list.

He also had 12 score involvements, 10 contested possessions and five inside 50’s.

Can he have all six votes?

2 Votes – Will Day

Should’ve finished off his good work – 0.2 for the afternoon but everything else was gold.

421 metres gained and 21 pressure acts went with his 23 disposals, seven score involvements and five clearances.

He’s the most important Hawk and it’s not that close.

1 Vote -Jack Ginnivan

Speaking of “should’ve finished off his good work”, Ginni could’ve kicked five and should’ve passed off one to Calsher Dear admittedly.

However, we can choose to celebrate what players did or chastise for what they didn’t do but Ginni delivered near 3QT, draining a big goal and going BALLISTIC!

After telling the media that at Hawthorn he could “play a lot freer”, he had 22 disposals, kicked 2.3, had nine score involvements and 489 metres gained.

Also broke the ton for Fantasy points too for the first time in 2024.

Mitch’s Votes

3 Votes – Dylan Moore

Will be surprised if this isn’t unanimous across the board, kicked 5 and had 27 in an enormous performance. He is quickly becoming a barometer of sorts for the side, when he plays well, so does the team.

Huge effort, I have said it before and I’ll say it again, nothing against James Sicily, but this bloke should be the captain.

2 Votes – Will Day

The difference this bloke has made to the side is incredible! The entire on ball brigade benefits when he is in the mix and he was solid again on Saturday.

Missed a few shots at goal to take him to an even better performance, but it is scary how good this guy has gotten.

1 Vote – Jack Ginnivan

Probably his best performance since coming over from the pies, I have really liked watching Ginni this season and he was strong on Saturday! His work rate is superb, he loves the club and he seems to have so much fun out there.

Ginni did have a brain fade where he blazed at goal and burnt a few teammates but he will learn from that and he responded beautifully with that goal on 3qtr time.

No, Will Day was not having a go at him after that, thought it was more of a pump up after he had made a bad decision minutes earlier.

Jarman Impey, Jack Scrimshaw, Jai Newcombe and James Sicily all deserve a nod too.

Not often you see 27 disposals along side five goals! Could have blazed away and had six goals, not only did the team thing but delivered to Gunston to finish his 250th on a high.

Exceptional game by Moorey.

2 Votes – Jack Ginnivan

Jack’s work ethic is outstanding, 21 pressure acts, 489m gained and nine score involvements is a solid performance for a small forward.

1 Vote – Jai Newcombe

Not a flashy game by Jai but plenty of grunt work done in the midfield with 14 of his 26 disposals contested, 457m gained and a game high 9 clearances is a handy performance.

Lauren’s Votes

3 Votes – Dylan Moore

Moorey has made all our jobs very easy this week. Absolutely dominant on the day, was anywhere and everywhere and tried his guts out to the very last second.

Seems like this performance will justifiably spark AA conversations. Will be great to see Dyl getting the recognition he deserves.

2 Votes – Will Day

Every week that he’s been back, it’s shown more and more how valuable he is to this side. Class personified.

Was the most impactful midfielder on the day. If only he slotted a goal from those few opportunities.

1 Vote – Jai Newcombe

Toss about between him and Daysy for the two votes, a little unlucky to only get the one.

Was an absolute bull with a game high 9 clearances. Looks fit and ready to take the game on at all times.

Liam’s Votes

3 Votes – Dylan Moore

This was easy. 27 disposals, 5 goals, 5 marks, 3 clearances, 3 tackles, 2 goal assists.

I don’t think much more needs to be said about how good he was, because he was best on ground by the length of the Hume Highway.

2 Votes – Jai Newcombe

Won the ball in the middle with 9 clearances (almost the difference between the 2 sides in terms of clearances) but with 26 disposals, 457 metres gained, 5 inside 50s, 5 score involvements, and going at 73.1% efficiency.

Also laid 4 tackles and was always there when we needed him to stand up.

1 Vote – Will Day

A coin flip with Newcombe for the two votes but the impact this man has on the midfield cannot be understated.

With 23 disposals at nearly 80%, 421 metres gained, 7 score involvements, 6 inside 50s, 5 tackles, 5 clearances, and 2 goal assists, Day was again sublime on Saturday.

Ginnivan, D’Ambrosio, Impey, Scrimshaw, and Sicily could all justifiably ask where their votes are.

Matty’s Votes

3 Votes – Dylan Moore

Just when you think Moore’s contributions were right up there by his own increasingly high standards, Dylan pulls out a career best performance with 5 goal and 27 disposals. Wow.

All Australian here we come.

Hats off to you Dylan, for your leadership, tenacity and team play.  Capped off nicely by giving Gunner’s his 3rd instead of going for your 6th goal.

2 Votes – Will Day

Sam Mitchell said it this week, with Will Day it is like having another coach out there on the field.

He is setting things up, communicating with and guiding teammates, bringing an intensity and competitiveness that the Hawks need.

Aside from some goal kicking inaccuracy, his seven score involvements from 23 disposals at 78% efficiency with 24 pressure acts were class.

1 Vote – Jai Newcombe

This vote could have gone to several players across the back, mid and forward lines.

With 22 disposals (season average of 15)  Jack had nine score involvements and eight i50s with 489 metres gained.

Ginni provided some moments that energised the MCG, kicking 2.3.  With better accuracy in front of the sticks from his seven shots on goal, he could have had an absolute day out.

He’ll learn a bit watching this one back.
