Tim & Finn – A Chat with Finn Maginness

Coming off the back of a breakout year in 2022, young Hawthorn midfielder, Finn Maginness, recently joined Talking Hawks to discuss his time at Hawthorn, discussing how Sam Mitchell has assisted with building his confidence in his game and the takeaways from the preseason scratch match against the Cats.

Finn spoke about the team taking away moments from the Geelong game and how players were not as consistent as they liked, which will be a great catalyst for them putting in a more consistent effort against Collingwood on Thursday night at Utas Stadium.

He spoke about Sam Mitchell and how he is helping the whole squad to realise what their strengths are and helping them to continue to improve this facet of their game, while also discussing Sam’s passion for the playing group to reach their potential.

It was great to hear Finn speak about the coaches and how they are working with the incredibly young list to build confidence and cohesion in the group and aren’t afraid to try different methods, including the odd game of ‘Simon Says’ led by contests coach Adrian Hickmott.

Finn spoke about the belief in the team that while they are still a young developing team, that they will be more than competitive on the park and will bring more consistency to season 2023, which begins against old foe Essendon at the MCG.

Listen to the full interview to hear more about Finn’s career transformation and the role he will be playing mostly this season for the mighty brown and gold.
